Welcome to the official website for the 12th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health (ECTMIH). Here you will find all the information you need on the conference, the host city and anything practical.

The Centre for International Health (CIH) at the University of Bergen (UiB) are proud to host the 12th European Congress on Tropical Medicine and International Health from Bergen, Norway 2021. CIH was established in 1988 and undertakes research, education and leadership development aimed at improving the health situation in low- and middle income countries. Read more about CIH here.

We thank the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH) for an excellent Congress in Liverpool. ECTMIH 2019 will be a tough act to follow. We are excited for the opportunity to host the worldwide community on tropical medicine and global health.

Bergen provides the perfect backdrop for this prestigious gathering, combining Norway's rich tradition of international cooperation with world-class conference facilities and stunning natural beauty. As we bring together leading researchers, practitioners, and policy makers from around the globe, we look forward to fostering meaningful collaborations that will advance tropical medicine and international health for years to come.

The host city for ECTMIH 2021 is Bergen, a UNESCO world heritage city. Founded more than 900 years ago, Bergen has roots to the Viking Age and beyond. As one of the main offices of the Hanseatic League, Bergen was for several hundred years the centre of prosperous trade between Norway and the rest of Europe. Bryggen, ("The Hanseatic Wharf") is the most obvious remnant from this time and is today home to many of the city’s restaurants, pubs, craft shops and historical museums. Bergen is also known for its diverse culture – hosting international festivals in music, film and literature. Learn more.
